Jaidyn is Finding Purpose Through Adversity

As an UPSWING Experience Scholarship athlete, Jaidyn is able to use sports as an outlet to help with finding purpose through adversity.

With UPSWING’s help, Jaidyn is finding his purpose in the face of adversity. In October 2022, Jaidyn’s dad was diagnosed with a very rare blood disease. After about a month of being diagnosed, his dad lost his life to the disease. Jaidyn had a very close bond with his dad stating that, “he made me practice baseball every day, even in the winter.”

Being a part of the Bear Creek football league with training provided by UPSWING has helped Jaidyn regain his confidence and focus on how he can get better. According to Jaidyn’s mom, Lyndsey, sports have provided an outlet for Jaidyn that develop his confidence in a way that allows him to share that confidence with someone else who’s been through experiences like his. “I hope for him that he really embraces the challenges that he’s been through in his life in a way where he can share those with others to help them,” Lyndsey said.

“The most important relationship he’ll have in life is the one he’ll have with himself, and sports and working out are both ways that help develop your confidence and help your mind become stronger,” Lyndsey said. “And so if he stays committed to those outlets I feel like his relationship with himself will grow.”
