We're hiring a Marketing Intern to assist the Marketing Manager in digital marketing, content creation, social media management, market research, event management, and campaign execution.

Location: UPSWING Foundation; 1746 Cole Blvd, Ste 300, Lakewood, CO 80401 (in-person) with occasional travel to Centennial facility

Start Date: September 1, 2024

Position: Entry level, part time, occasional evenings and weekends required

Duration: 3-6 months with flexibility

Compensation Range: $18-20 per hour

BACKGROUND

UPSWING Foundation

Founded in 2020 by Harmony and Jason Myers as a Colorado-based nonprofit with a vision to connect people and catapult dreams. We believe access to sports, education, and other opportunities is too often limited by barriers such as socioeconomic factors. We also believe all kids should have an equal opportunity to experience sports, to learn and grow, to connect with others, and to discover and pursue their dreams. Our mission is to develop strong, confident, successful student athletes who are able to give back to their communities in meaningful ways.

UPSWING Centennial

UPSWING Centennial is a state-of-the-art athletic facility offering performance training, dance, and recovery programs for athletes of all backgrounds. Designed to help determined student athletes thrive, UPSWING Centennial opened July 2024 for athletes, families, and the surrounding community.

 

OVERVIEW

The Marketing Intern will report to the Marketing Manager who oversees all marketing and communication for UPSWING Foundation and all its affiliated platforms, programs, and facilities. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Marketing Intern to take on a myriad of tasks and projects. This role provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing, including digital marketing, content creation, social media management, market research, event management, and campaign execution. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with attention to detail, organizational skills, tech savvy, a passion for nonprofits and youth sports, and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and digital marketing tools — experience with Later scheduling platform preferred.
  • Basic understanding of marketing principles and practices.
  • Creative mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to move quickly and balance multiple priorities and projects at once.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Be able to lift and move 25 lbs.
  • Criminal background check required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with video production and filming (DSLR).
  • Experience with video editing and graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite and Canva).
  • Experience with SEO, web analytics, web development, and content management systems (WordPress and Google Analytics).
  • Experience with project management software (Monday).
  • Experience with contact management software (Virtuous CRM).
  • Experience planning and assisting with events.
  • Previous internship or work experience in a marketing role.
  • Experience working with youth, specifically youth athletes.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Creation: Assist in creating engaging and relevant content for social media, website, blogs, newsletters, promotions, email campaigns, and other marketing channels.
  • Social Media Management: Help manage and grow the company’s social media presence by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and target audience demographics to support marketing strategies.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of marketing campaigns, including email marketing, online advertising, and events.
  • Data Analysis: Gather and analyze data from various marketing efforts to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Project Management: Utilize company project management software to track and report on day-to-day tasks and projects.
  • Administrative Tasks: Support the Marketing Manager with administrative tasks such as updating databases, preparing reports, and coordinating meetings.
  • Represent UPSWING: Represent the Foundation, its mission, and code of conduct.
